Paseos en Bicicleta: Santiago Tours

Old Santiago; appropriate for all abilities

This tour takes us through the quiet back streets, plazas and hidden corners of Barrio Yungay, one of Santiago’s most characteristic and picturesque neighborhoods. We cycle over old streets lined with stately palm trees, pausing to watch the world go by from one of the many outdoor cafes in Plaza Brasil. We ride to the Quinta Normal park and admire the impressive architecture of the Estación Central train station. We pass La Moneda presidential headquarters,

seat of the Chilean government and one of the most interesting buildings of our colonial heritage, before heading to the bohemian pleasures of Barrio Lastarria, where our
tour ends.
No hills on this tour – the area covered is entirely flat and appropriate for all cyclists.

Santiago by Night; physically demanding

This is one of the city’s most dazzling rides. Our first destination is the beautiful Parque Forestal on the edge of downtown Santiago, where we cycle to the Aviation Fountain and Sculpture Park. From here, we bike to a side entrance of Cerro San Cristóbal, climbing steeply upwards, reaching the Tupahue swimming pool and El Hundimiento look-out for an unparalleled view of Santiago at sunset against the dramatic backdrop of the Andes mountains. Our biking adventure winds up

at the terraces of Cerro San Cristóbal with a candlelight dinner of cheese and fine Chilean wine. After the meal, enjoy the ride downhill or we’ll pick you and your bike up in our vehicle.
This tour has some uphill segments that require good physical condition. The reward
is a beautiful nighttime panorama of the Santiago Valley.
